Parents of kids with autism often struggle to balance embracing their child's specific interest with exposing them to new experiences in life and play. The key word here is balance. As human beings, we all have a right to engage in activities that are fun and exciting to us. If your child has highly specific and limited interests they deserve respect and love in the form of time to do whatever it is that makes them happy, as long as they are not hurting themselves or others.
I am so excited to share this space with you and your family! Thrive on the Spectrum is a space where I share my expertise and experience in psychology, special education, teaching, and working as a behavior therapist with parents and families of children on the autism spectrum. My mission is to help people on the autism spectrum thrive and I believe that informed, empowered, and involved parents are a crucial part of every child’s success.
